5th Annual Gulf Education Conference & Exhibition 17th - 19th of March 2015 - UAE
Last Update: Tuesday, December 16, 2014 : 18:26 (+4GMT)
The organisers of the Gulf Education Conference and Exhibition announced on the 17th November 2014 that the event would be held in UAE in 2015 for the first time. Previously the conference has taken place in London, UK. The move brings the opportunity to learn, develop and network with peers from Europe and other countries closer to the academic community of the Gulf Region.
Announcing the event dates of 17th -19th March 2015, Event Director Abdelkhalig Mohammed said “We have long felt in the event’s development that there would be a time when it would be right for Gulf Education to move to the region in order to give closer access to the fast-growing and developing education sector of the Middle East. From the support and demand of our audience we acknowledge that 2015 is that time.”
The event has gone from strength to strength with the content of the conference programme becoming increasingly topical and innovative in recent years. This year the themes of the conference will focus strongly on vocational education and employer engagement, providing a platform from which to share successful practice in the fields of vocational education, and effective modes of employer engagement for positive outcomes. To date the underlying emphasis to all four GE conferences has been weighted heavily on the importance of Gulf/Global partnerships in all areas of learning, whether this is research collaborations or student recruitment strategies, and it is felt that this premise is further nurtured by the move to UAE.
The Gulf Education Event Director, was joined by Official Partners of the event which included Essa Al Mulla, Chief of National Workforce Development, Dr Saoud Al Mulla , Director, HCT Dubai the Higher Colleges of Technology UAE. All are key stakeholders in the field of education and are strongly supporting the development of the conference in ensuring that it realizes the objectives for both the local and international attendees.
Unable to attend due to work commitments, two key members of the Gulf Education Advisory Board sent their endorsements:
“I am delighted by the decision to move Gulf Education to UAE in 2015. The move will bring the event much closer to more of our colleagues in the Gulf who have a strong imperative to develop education to meet the employment needs of the Region. Universities, colleges, employers and other bodies have already been generous in their support and in giving good advice about the programme and we are honoured to be able to contribute to the development of education in the Region” said David Lock, Director of International Projects at the Leadership Foundation Higher Education.
Dr Sultan Abu Orabi, Secretary General of the Association of Arab Universities offered, “I feel it is the correct time for this move and we fully endorse it and look forward to an interesting and engaging programme in March 2015.”
