Pre-school recognized by region’s prestigious and most credible forum for their commitment and pursuit to “Sustainability and Intentional teaching” in early childhood
Nov 3, 2014, Dubai, UAE………………British Orchard Nursery, UAEs largest, most established and only ISO certified nursery chain won 1st place in the Small Business category of the 2014 Arabia Corporate Social Responsibility Awards. The nursery chain bagged the award amongst many contenders in acknowledgement of its excellent pursuit of CSR, sustainability and community service. Arabia CSR Awards are considered the most credible and prestigious awards in the Arab world recognizing the champions of sustainable projects and initiatives across the Middle East and North Africa.
Ms. Vandana Gandhi, CEO and Founder of British Orchard Nursery received the award, expressing her sincere gratitude saying “I am honoured and thankful to the UAE Government, Arabia CSR Award Forum, Arabia CSR Network and the visionary rulers of UAE for this recognition. As a pre-school catering to the extended community, we focus a lot on CSR activities, charity programmes and sustainability at all levels and such awards and recognitions inspire us to do better”.
“It’s part of our DNA at British Orchard to create awareness about sustainable living. We ensure that sustainability be embedded in all daily routines and within the curriculum thereby empowering our children to take responsibility. I think early childhood educators have a powerful window of opportunity to play an active and significant role in assisting young children and families to understand sustainability issues, concepts and practices. Our children understand that sustainability means ‘to save the world for later’. Young minds are most adaptive and the importance of the years from birth to six has been recognised as crucial learning years for child development. In fact, we are sometimes amazed with the amount of interest and intense engagement the children display on recycling sessions. It feels as if the children are on a mission,” concluded Vandana.
