Abu Dhabi Flagship Facility Continues to Bolster Confidence of Local Community
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC) has announced its emergency room, speciality clinic and urgent care visits for the first half of the year, demonstrating that it continues to be the healthcare facility of choice for the local community in Abu Dhabi.
Across a total of 78,638 emergency visits, the majority have been to the adult ED with 34,838 visits, followed by the Khalidiya Urgent Care Centre with 24,235 and more than 19,565 visits to the paediatric ED.
The hospital’s outpatient speciality clinics have witnessed 121, 819 visits from January to June, while admissions have reached 9,253 in total for the first half of the year.
According to the hospital’s deputy CEO, Dr. Aref Al Shehhi, the hospital is already expecting to exceed 2013’s recorded visits.
“Our unique ‘physician-led’ approach to healthcare to the local community has continued to elevate patient care levels, and we see this in the number of patients confidently choosing SKMC as it continues to build upon its reputation as one of the best healthcare providers in the country,” Dr. Al Shehhi said.
“With the population growing rapidly, and UAE residents becoming much more aware and educated on their healthcare needs, we will continue to see a growth in the demand for health services - a challenge we are determined to meet,” he added.
In 2013 the hospital recorded 104,000 emergency room visits, as many as 206,000 specialty clinic visits, 61,295 urgent care visits, and more than 6,600 surgeries throughout the year, SKMC continues to deliver its unique ‘physician-led’ approach to healthcare to the UAE community, and elevate patient care levels in the country.
SKMC, managed by Cleveland Clinic, is part of the SEHA HealthSystem and owned and operated by Abu Dhabi Health Services Company PJSC (SEHA), which is responsible for the curative activities of all the public hospitals and clinics in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
