Dusit Thani Dubai Retains EarthCheck Silver Certification Four Years In A Row (2011-2014)

Dubai, UAE - Dusit Thani Dubai, Dusit International’s flagship in the vibrant city of Dubai, has been awarded for the fourth time with a Silver Certification by EarthCheck, a global recognition for its commendable and high standard of environmental efforts. (www.earthcheck.org)

EarthCheck is an internationally recognized environmental management and certification program designed for the Travel and Tourism industry. It helps determine a company’s standard of environmental, social, and economic performance and requires compliance to internationally recognized standards.

In order for Dusit Thani Dubai to gain EarthCheck Certified status, the five-star hotel was required to submit a year’s worth of operational data to EarthCheck for Benchmarking purposes. This was then compared to the operational data submitted by similar organizations, before being rated against Baseline and Best Practice levels.
Dusit Thani Dubai was also required to submit to independent, third party auditing, to verify the accuracy of their sustainability claims. Their policies require the use of energy-efficient lighting, the minimization of water consumption, recycling of solid waste products and use of recycled products whenever possible. This has resulted in a decrease in Greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) for the hotel’s operations.

Eligible for Gold Certification in 2015, Dusit Thani Dubai is already taking necessary measures to undertake Certification Services in 2015.
