AHS Relocates Al Shahama Healthcare to Al Bahia

New Facility to Better Tackle Patient Flow and Capacity Issues in Al Shahama and Al Bahia Areas

Abu Dhabi-UAE: 21 July, 2014 – As part of its priority to expand the geographical reach of specialized healthcare services and develop the existing facilities to cope with the population growth, Ambulatory Healthcare Services (AHS), a SEHA health system facility, has announced the relocation of Al Shahama Healthcare Center to Al Bahia.

Located next to the Deerfields Townsquare Shopping Mall on Abu Dhabi - Dubai highway, the new facility commenced operations on July 20, 2014. Following the inauguration of the new center, Al Shahama Healthcare Center ceased operations. 

The new facility will cater to the healthcare needs of population in Al Shahama and Al Bahia areas, and offer a wide variety of consultation, treatment and referral services Sunday through Thursday, from 8am to 2pm and 8:30pm to 1am. On Saturdays, the center will function from 8:30pm to 1am during Ramadan. Following Ramadan, the center will operate from Sunday to Thursday 7am to 10pm and on Saturdays from 12 noon to 8pm. Patients are encouraged to contact the AHS call center 8002247 to make an appointment to avoid the waiting time for walk in service.

Mohamed Hawas Al Sadid, Chief Executive Officer, AHS said: “The areas surrounding Al Shahama and Al Bahia have witnessed rapid urbanization and population growth in recent years, which placed increasing pressure on the existing Al Shahama Healthcare Center. The new facility is part of our plans to upgrade the primary healthcare infrastructure in Abu Dhabi and expand AHS healthcare network in line with the evolving needs of residents for quality healthcare services. With the opening of Al Bahia Healthcare Center, we hope to better tackle the patient flow and capacity issues and respond quickly and effectively to their specialized healthcare needs.” 

Fitted with the latest medical, diagnostic and laboratory equipment, the new facility will offer dermatology clinic, radiology, prosthodontics, general dentistry, oral surgery, orthodontics, obstetrics/gynecology, women's health clinic, chronic disease clinic, diabetic education, general medicine and family medicine, urgent care, well child clinic, pediatric medicine, nutrition clinic, internal medicine, screening, pre-employment screening, Weqaya screening, ultrasound laboratory and pharmacy. 

The center is also equipped for a cardiology, ophthalmology, and ENT clinic, which will be introduced at a later stage.
