Indian Ambassador visits Conares steel plant in JAFZA

DUBAI- March 20, 2014: His Excellency TP Seetharam, the newly appointed Indian Ambassador to the UAE, recently paid a visit to the headquarters and plants of Conares- the leading provider of downstream steel products in the Gulf region.
Mr. Baharat Bhatia, CEO of Conares received the Ambassador at his office in Jebal Ale Free Zone (JAFZA). Mrs. Jyoti Bharat, Mr. Mathew Ambat, Mr. Bankim Parikh and other senior management officials of Conares were present at the occasion.
The newly appointed Indian Ambassador to the UAE was on an official visit to JAFZA, leading a high level 18-member delegation which comprised top executives of leading Indian companies who have been in JAFZA for the last more than twenty years.
Welcoming the Ambassador to Conares, Mr. Bhatia said, “We had the honour of playing host to His Excellency at the headquarters of Conares, a key player in steel manufacturing and trading for both the global and regional suppliers. The Ambassador was greeted by the senior management and staff members of the company.”
During his visit, the Ambassador and his team toured the-state-of-the-art plant of Conares, which covers an area of over one and half million square feet, and produces a total of 750,000 million metric tonnes steel products annually. This represents 15 per cent of the UAE market share in their specific steel segments.
The Ambassador was able to see the strength of the US$ 150 million worth Conares, which is now operational in two major segments of the industry and generates Dh1.2 billion annual revenues. His Excellency commended the investments that Indian entrepreneurs made in the UAE.
Indians have emerged as important investors in the Emirates. Several Indian companies have significantly contributed to the growth of industries and infrastructure development in the Gulf region.
