DHA hospitals get reaccredited by Joint Commission International (JCI) for the third time in a row.

United Arab Emirates, Dubai, December 15, 2013: The Dubai Health Authority's(DHAs)hospitals- Rashid , Dubai and Latifa hospital and the Dubai Thalassemia center were reaccredited by the prestigious Joint Commission International (JCI) for the third time in a row. The accreditation was also given to DHA's Airport Healthcare center for the second time.
His Excellency Engineer Essa Al Maidoor, Director General of Dubai Health Authority said that this achievement reflects the Authority's commitment to fulfill the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to ensure that all hospitals in Dubai should be internationally accredited.
Presently 68 per cent of all hospitals in Dubai have international accreditations and the remaining are in the process of obtaining the same.
H.E. Al Maidoor: “International accreditations are important to benchmark ourselves at an international level and adhering to physical and operational standards play an important role in the delivery of safe and high-quality health services for our population and visitors. The healthcare providers across the globe have to keep up with the continuous developments in the medical field, and healthcare standards and procedures are important to provide high-quality and excellence services.”
He added: “ Obtaining this international accreditation reflects the DHA's commitment to providing excellent health care services while ensuring patient safety. This recognition reinforces that DHA hospitals are par with the world's leading health practices worldwide. We are committed to strengthening our efforts in the field of patient safety, risk management and it is our aim to provide patient-centered care.”
The Hospitals services sector will continue applying the best international excellence standards in the healthcare services field to ensure that Dubai continues to provide high quality care to its population and visitors said, Dr. Ahmad Kalban CEO of hospital services sector at the DHA.
Dr. Kalban, added, that the hospital services sector will continue to seek international accreditations and that currently Hatta Hospital, Dubai Diabetes Centre and
Dubai Gynecology and Fertility centre are in the process of obtaining an internationally recognized accreditation. Moreover, DHA primary healthcare centres are also in the process to be internationally accredited.
Dr. Zakaria Al Attal, supervisor of the accreditation program at the DHA said: “DHA hospitals and special centres obtained international accreditation pursuant to the latest global standards. These standards are constantly updated in line with developments in the medical field.”
He emphasized on the importance of continuing the process of quality, improvement and international accreditation for healthcare services because international accreditation is an effective method to ensure quality in healthcare.
