Abu Dhabi, UAE: The 7th Abu Dhabi Medical Congress & Exhibition got under way today at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). The event continues on 28-29 October and is expected to attract more than 5000 professionals working in the primary healthcare, emergency, patient safety, rehabilitation, and nursing sectors across the region.
The much awaited Middle East Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Conference began with a key note address from Dr Yousif Alnuaimi from the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Zayed Military Hospital, Abu Dhabi, UAE.
He highlighted the problem of worldwide healthcare provider shortages as well as the development of rehabilitation care in UAE in the coming decades. He also emphasised the prevention of future problems while addressing the current functional disability of rehabilitation care in the region.
“This is especially pertinent as there is an increase in private and public rehabilitation centres in UAE. The Abu Dhabi Executive Council has just approved an ‘awards for tenders' to set up the AED596m Abu Dhabi Medical Rehabilitation Centre which will contain 149 beds,” said Dr Alnuaimi.
“Patients in the UAE will benefit the most from information presented at this meeting. Armed with the latest developments and technologies in the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation, the rehabilitation healthcare professionals can translate this knowledge into providing patients in the UAE with the most effective treatment plan possible,” he continued.
Organised by Informa Life Sciences Exhibitions, the Abu Dhabi Medical Congress & Exhibition also plays host to more than 70 exhibitors from 25 countries featuring leading manufacturers, dealers, service providers and healthcare facilities from the region.
Ahalia Medical Group, at the exhibition to showcase their new hospital project in the Mussafah area of Abu Dhabi, described the progress of the project.
"Ahalia Hospital, in Abu Dhabi, on track for completion of its new healthcare projects in Mussafah, is set to open on end of this year. The multi-specialty facility extends advanced healthcare, offering a range of tertiary and quaternary medical services that will bring world-class healthcare to Abu Dhabi and the region. The new hospital will deliver enhanced integrated medical services in accordance with the latest and highest international practices and standards, which will help strengthen the public healthcare sector in Abu Dhabi, while addressing the needs of the growing population," Jayakrishnan Mampazha.
Abu Dhabi Medical Congress & Exhibition is open to all trade visitors and healthcare professionals between 9.30am - 5.00pm on Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 October.
