Last Update: Saturday, August 24, 2013 : 12:53 (+4GMT)
The Bebelac Junior Two Hearts One Wish Campaign for 2013 fulfilled the wishes of many children and also fulfilled some of the more dramatic medical wishes. These include the wishes for two children:
Sama, a 5 year old Egyptian little girl living in Sharjah, UAE, who suffered from leukemia. Although Sama was treated for leukemia, she suffered from post-chemotherapy trauma which made her unable to learn the alphabets in English and Arabic. Her parents' wish for their child was to help her catch up on her academic learning by working with ah special tutor in English and Arabic. She is now in Grade 1 but because she spent 3 years in hospital being treated for leukaemia she is very behind the other students and the school has been pressuring the family to withdraw her from school.
Her mother has spent the past year feeling desperate and praying for help to arrive form some quarter to enable her to appoint a teacher to give her daughter the educational support she needs. She reached out to Bebelac for help as a last resort. Bebelac Junior helped by enrolling her daughter in English and an Arabic class with a special needs tutor for 3 months. This should really help her overcome her inability to learn the alphabets and her family are very pleased. To download a selection images of Sama with her tutor
Mohammed is the other child whose dreams were fulfilled by Bebelac Junior. Four year old Mohammed lives in Kuwait and is autistic as well as suffering from some movement disabilities. His parents' wish for him was to travel to Dubai to visit Ski Dubai and experience snow for the first time! They felt that being immersed in something completely different like experiencing snow would help him forget about his illnesses and feel happy. Ski Dubai made special arrangements to accommodate Mohammed, his parents and his sister. Mohammed really enjoyed his time exploring the snow park; he was at his happiest on the kid's snow sleds, guided by his father. He also particularly enjoyed the chair lift ride, calmly looking at the great view of Ski Dubai - it was the only activity where he was focusing most on. He was a little afraid of the penguins however his sister really enjoyed meeting them.
