Dubai, UAE; July 31, 2013: Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), the apex body that drives the strategic development of Dubai's healthcare sector, to upgrade and modernise the endoscopy services offered at Rashid Hospital.
Saeed Khoory, Chief Executive Officer of ENOC, signed the agreement with His Excellency Engineer Essa Al Haj Al Maidoor, Director-General, DHA, in the presence of His Excellency Khalid Ahmed Al Sheikh Mubarak Al Shamsi, Deputy Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority and Dr Shawqi Mir Hashem Khoory, Chief Executive Officer of Rashid Hospital, at a ceremony held at the DHA head office.
As per the MoU, the funding support from ENOC will go towards further developing and modernising endoscopy services at the Digestive Disease Unit at Rashid Hospital, which has been at the forefront in offering diagnostic and interventional services.
Saeed Khoory said: “At ENOC, we take our corporate social responsibility commitment seriously, and looks to further contribute to the overall welfare of the community by partnering with public and private sector entities that work towards enhancing the quality of life of people. Our MoU with Dubai Health Authority underlines the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to bring together all organisations for enhancing the status of Dubai as a world-class city, and reflect the UAE Vision 2021 to be among the best nations in the world. We are thankful to DHA for this opportunity to make a tangible contribution to improving the healthcare facilities offered in Dubai, especially at Rashid Hospital, one of the oldest medical centres that reaches out to a large cross-section of people.”
His Excellency Engineer Essa Al Haj Al Maidoor said: “The contribution from ENOC will substantially elevate the Digestive Disease Unit at Rashid Hospital to truly world-class levels through the introduction of path-breaking technologies. With demand for endoscopy services growing, the funding support is timely and will further reiterate the Digestive Disease Unit as one of the most respected tertiary referral centres for extremely difficult cases. Today, several government and private hospitals in Dubai and the Northern Emirates look at Rashid Hospital for high quality and efficient tertiary care services. We are thankful to ENOC for their support to further enhance the standards of our endoscopy services to truly world-class levels.”
Established in 1995, the Digestive Disease Unit treats more than 5000 patients annually. Rashid Hospital has been at the forefront in providing all-round care for patients in Dubai, and the financial funding from ENOC will further elevate its status as a premier healthcare provider.
CSR is a core purpose and value at ENOC, which is reiterated through the new agreement with DHA. In recognition of its contributions to society, ENOC was awarded Asia's top laurel for Best Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Practice at the Asian Leadership Awards (ALA), which honours super achievers in the continent.
ENOC's largest corporate social responsibility initiative is to raise funds for the construction of a child care centre for Dubai Autism Center, a non-profit organization serving children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. The company also conducts several concerted public welfare campaigns throughout the year, particularly during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
EMGAS, a business subsidiary of Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC), provides 300 disadvantaged families with free LPG refills every year during Ramadan. In partnership with Dubai Municipality, EMGAS also spreads LPG safety awareness among the public through free seminars in local communities, schools, and in worker camps in Dubai.
The company's highly successful ENOC Challenge programme, in partnership with the Rashid Paediatric Therapy Centre and the Community Development Authority (CDA), enrolls special needs individuals in a seven-month comprehensive training programme at ENOC Headquarters. Masiraty, another key ENOC CSR activity, is organized in partnership with the Ministry of Social Affairs. Masiraty trains UAE nationals living on welfare on workplace skills and fosters their potential for job opportunities.
