New Partnership to Improve Student Skills And Job Prospects
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – July 2, 2013 – Amity University Dubai has joined SAP's globally acclaimed University Alliances program (UAP).
Supporting existing business, engineering and IT programs, the UAP provides hands-on experience of key SAP technologies.
UAP member schools gain access to the SAP Business Suite family of solutions, including SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). The comprehensive business software suite supports business, engineering and information technology programs, and enables students to put classroom theory into practice through demonstrations, problem solving exercises, case studies, and research programs.
In particular, Amity University students will gain insight into how technology can empower businesses to optimize key processes such as accounting and controlling, human capital management, project planning, plant and materials management, and sales and distribution.
“This partnership provides abundant opportunities to our students to understand and absorb developments in the industry,” said Dr Narayanan Ramachandran, Pro Vice Chancellor, Amity University Dubai.
Prof. Ved Prakash Mishra, Program Leader (Engineering Programs), Amity University Dubai, added:
“This relationship bridges the divide between industry and academia, enabling the academic staff and students to further research collaborations with the industry. Together, we can prepare students for the job market in a direct and extremely impactful way.”
The Amity Education Group is one of India's leading private non-profit education groups, offering globally benchmarked education from pre-schools to Ph.D. level
SAP's UAP currently counts 32 members across the Middle East and Africa (MENA) region, incorporating 1747 students and 201 trained lecturers. The company plans to double membership within the next three years.
“The UAP has a long history of giving students the skills they need to add immediate value to the local job market. It also provides faculty members with the tools and resources to vividly illustrate how technology can enable integrated business processes and strategic thinking,” said Qais Gharaibeh, UAE Managing Director, SAP MENA.
“This is a different way of learning; a platform for interaction, creativity and inspiration. Above all, it is an opportunity to collaborate with talented peers and educators, gain hands on project experience and translate theory into practice.”
Identifying and nurturing youngsters capable of making a mark in the region's IT industry is fundamental to SAP's MENA growth plan. In addition to the UAP, key areas of focus include a Dual Study Education program (a two-year university-based development program), the MENA Field Services- Young Professionals Program and the Mawared program, a three month boot camp for young professionals and graduates aiming to become SAP consultants.
