Dubai, UAE, 26 August 2026: The Mohammed Bin Rashid Library hosted the children’s theatrical performance My Grandfather Taught. Produced by Sandooq Al Watan and written and directed by artist Abdullah Saleh, the performance was presented as part of a cultural and artistic collaboration between the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library and Dubai National Theatre. The event supports the Library’s efforts to promote art and culture among young people.
The performance offered a theatrical experience that combined entertainment and learning, highlighting the contrast between one generation immersed in the world of social media and another that channels its abilities into creativity and innovation. This was presented through the journey of a child named Mohammed, as he discovers the meaning of true friendship and the importance of having a loyal friend.
My Grandfather Taught Me shed light on numerous positive values, most notably friendship, loyalty, support, and guidance, as well as the importance of choosing friends wisely and standing by them. The play also used storytelling, performance, and theatrical interaction to convey these messages indirectly, allowing children to engage with the events and characters and absorb the underlying lessons through experience and observation.
The collaboration between the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library, Dubai National Theatre, and Sandooq Al Watan underscores the importance of joint efforts among cultural and artistic institutions in supporting Emirati content for children. It also helps provide experiences that combine artistic quality with meaningful human and educational messages, contributing to the cultivation of positive values among younger generations.
The Mohammed Bin Rashid Library is committed to offering children a diverse range of cultural and artistic experiences, and strengthening the role of theatre as a tool for developing children’s awareness and imagination. This evening reflects the diversity of events hosted by the Library and its role as an open cultural platform for different forms of creativity.
