Union Coop's Book Donation Drive Concludes: ‘My Book is Your Book'

More than 10,675 books have been collected in the final phase
Dubai, UAE: The Happiness & Marketing Director, Dr. Suhail Al Bastaki confirmed that the cooperative’s book donation initiative named ‘My Book is Your Book’ has concluded with 10,675 new and used books donated to Juma AL-Majid Center for Culture and Heritage.
The initiative saw great potential upon its initial launch in August 2022, which lasted for 2 months wherein dedicated donation boxes were placed in Union Coop run commercial centers of Al Barsha Mall, Al Barsha South Mall, Al Warqa City Mall and Etihad Mall. The boxes were placed strategically so that it promoted increased interaction with visitors and shoppers alike and offered them an opportunity to donate to this social cause.
“The initiative falls within Union Coop’s corporate social responsibility framework and it was well received by the public due to its unique and noble nature. Furthermore, this initiative encouraged everyone, especially the youth to read more and later donate the book to the less fortunate ones, who can benefit from it,” continued Al Bastaki
The Juma AL-Majid Center for Culture and Heritage’s General Manager Dr. Mohammed Kamel Gaad received the Cooperative employees from the department of ‘Happiness & Marketing’ who were associated with the initiative. An ‘Appreciation Certificate’ was presented to the Cooperative for its efforts to make various societal and especially cultural groups happy. He also stressed the importance of such initiatives that help in raising awareness among the community members and encourages them to read and donate books, so that they benefit those who cannot afford them.
