Dubai. Roads and Transport Authority. 15 September 2026:
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in collaboration with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation, organised a specialised workshop for members of RTA’s innovation and future foresight teams. Held within the framework of RTA’s Strategic Plan 2024–2030 and its vision to become “The World Leader in Seamless and Sustainable Mobility,” the workshop aimed to enhance the mobility ecosystem’s readiness for future requirements and develop innovative and sustainable mobility solutions and services that improve customer experience and quality of life.
The workshop aimed to equip the teams with the latest methodologies and practices for designing and operationalising innovation labs, and for applying innovation lab tools through practical, scientifically grounded approaches that support RTA’s strategic goals, foremost among them Integrated and Innovative Mobility. It also sought to strengthen the teams’ future foresight capabilities for mobility in Dubai.
The workshop also reflects RTA’s commitment to drawing on the specialised expertise of Mohammed Bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation. Abeer Tahlak, Director of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation, affirmed that government innovation is no longer confined to generating new ideas; rather, it rests on building sustainable organisational capabilities that enable government entities to adapt to change, anticipate challenges, and turn them into opportunities for growth and development.
She said the collaboration with RTA reflects the two entities' combined efforts to translate future visions and ambitions into practical, implementable solutions that support the development of the mobility ecosystem and strengthen the UAE’s government innovation model.
Tahlak added: “At the Mohammed Bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation, we work to empower government entities to adopt innovation labs as an organisational methodology that supports the development of policies, services and operations, while enhancing the readiness of vital sectors to meet future requirements efficiently and flexibly.”
Fatima Al Mandoos: Collaboration Supports RTA Priorities and Improves Organisational Efficiency
Dr. Fatima Al Mandoos, Director of Innovation and Pioneering at RTA’s Strategy and Corporate Governance Sector, affirmed that the collaboration reflects RTA’s focus on investing in human capital and developing capabilities, supporting the achievement of its strategic priorities and enhancing organisational efficiency.
Al Mandoos added: “This strategic collaboration reflects RTA’s commitment to embedding innovation and future foresight as a foundation for improving services, developing processes and enhancing performance efficiency. By establishing and operationalising innovation labs and equipping teams with modern tools and methodologies, we strengthen our ability to develop smart and sustainable mobility solutions and deliver a seamless, safe and customer-centric mobility experience that contributes to enhancing quality of life in Dubai.”
Al Mandoos also stressed the need for participants to complete the Innovation Tools and Innovation Labs course through Ibtekr platform before attending the workshop, ensuring maximum benefit from the specialised content and qualifying them to receive certificates accredited by the Centre.
A Model Partnership
The collaboration between Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and the Mohammed Bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation serves as a model of organisational partnership aimed at building national capabilities in future foresight and developing innovative solutions that enhance the competitiveness of the transport sector and reinforce Dubai’s position as a leading city in innovation and smart mobility.
Participants also completed the Innovation Tools and Innovation Labs course through Ibtekr platform, helping sustain the workshop’s impact and deepen applied knowledge. This integrated pathway helps translate the workshop’s outcomes into initiatives that can be implemented that deliver tangible improvements in services and operations, while strengthening the readiness of innovation and future foresight teams to support RTA’s strategic objectives and reinforce Dubai’s leadership in seamless and sustainable mobility.
