Max Mara Whitney Bag

United Arab Emirates -  December 13, 2020:  A homage to Italian creativity and ingenuity, the Whitney Bag came about as the result of the unprecedented partnership between the Renzo Piano Building Workshop and Max Mara.

The Whitney Bag made its first appearance in April 2015 at the opening of the new Whitney Museum of American Art building in the Meatpacking District of New York. “Aesthetic” and “technical” are the fundamental concepts of this bag, which is directly inspired by the façade and the proportion of the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York through the purity of its design and the careful selection of materials. Made of soft luxury leather, the Whitney Bag is characterised by an elegant surface featuring hot preformed ribbing that tapers off to become one unified section. Real “graphic cuts” recall the modular appearance of the façade of the Whitney Museum.

Over the years, novel formats and dimensions have been introduced, such as this season's clutch jewel featuring micro rhinestones and a detachable, adjustable strap.

The Whitney Bag, which celebrates its 5th Anniversary this year, is part of the permanent collection of the New York Fashion Institute of Technology museum.
