Dubai, UAE, 15 July 2020: The Dubai Culture & Arts Authority marked the reopening of its Al Shindagha Museum with its debut ‘Tales from the Past’ photo tour, which invited local photographers and content creators to visit, snap and share their experience at the Perfume House and the Dubai Creek: Birth of a City House.
Held in collaboration with #MyDubai; Canon Middle East; and FOTO.UAE, a local photographers’ network; the photo-tour invited aspiring and professional photographers and visual content creators to explore the iconic stories of Dubai’s history from pearl diving, the oil era, cultural practices, Emirati fragrances, and more.
The photo tour, held under the theme ‘Tales from the Past’, was extended for two days thanks to a high number of registrations, with more than 250 applications received within the first 48 hours. Thirty photographers and three prominent Dubai-based influencers captured iconic stories from Dubai’s past in June 2020.
Apart from introducing local and international audiences to the treasures of Dubai’s past, the initiative sought to generate a content gallery of artistic shots and provide local talents a platform to showcase their passion and creativity in photography and videography.
The tour garnered a positive response from visitors, and the photos that were taken during the tour were evaluated by a jury from Dubai Culture, Canon Middle East, #MyDubai and Foto UAE. The winning photo was taken by Mohammad Anabtawi, who will be given a brand new CANON mirrorless M50 camera.
The insightful and enriching tour was conducted in accordance with the Government of Dubai’s guidelines and safety precautions.
