Dubai, United Arab Emirates - November 06, 2019: On the occasion of International Day against Breast Cancer, Dubai Health Authority and Union Coop, the largest Consumer Cooperative in the UAE organized their signature breast awareness campaign under the name ‘Dubai Pink Ride in the year of tolerance’ for the 8th year in a row, in coordination with numerous government and private institutions.
This annual show of solidarity towards breast cancer fighters was held via bicycle and motorcycle procession, wherein more than 4500 participants marched together to raise awareness about Breast Cancer and to show solidarity with patients and survivors.
Expressing his contentment and solidarity towards the event which Union Coop has been supporting for a long time, Dr. Suhail Al Bastaki, Director of Happiness and Marketing Department, Union Coop said: “Through its ongoing support to ‘Dubai Pink Ride’, Union Coop seeks to raise awareness about breast cancer, and overall health in general. It highlights the importance of early detection of the disease, which leads to early prediction and diminishes the personal and social impact of the disease at an early stage.
Al Bastaki further added: “For the 8th consecutive year, Union Coop is collaborating with DHA to organize such an effective event, reflecting its commitment towards public health and strengthens our effort to build a healthy and safe environment by spreading knowledge and awareness among members of society.”
For his part, Mr. Salim Bin Lahej, Head of Health Fund Office at the DHA said: “The success of such initiatives is because of the continuous support of our partners over the past years to spread a feeling of positivity to the patients and their families, by linking sports with disease prevention.”
