Regions' happiest workplaces revealed

- The second edition of Happiness @ Work Award winners include both public and private sector organizations
Dubai, April 24, 2019: The region’s top happy workplaces were revealed and honored at the second edition of the Happiness @ Work Award ceremony. The winners include government and private sector organisations that have taken steps to increase the happiness quotient of its workforce.
Dubai Police was declared the happiest workplace in the public sector category. The same honour in the private sector category went to Aafaq Islamic Finance.
Dubai Police, Department of Economic Development of Ras Al-Khaimah, Sharjah City Municipality and Aafaq Islamic Finance won the Happiness @ Work Award in the Best Employee Engagement category.
Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation, TIME Hotels and Dubai Islamic Bank took top honours in the Best Workplace Wellness Program category.
The Happiness @ Work Award in the Best Work-Life Balance Program category was won by Dubai Statistics Center, Dubai Police and Savola Group.
Fujairah Municipality won the award in the Best Workers Welfare Program category.
While Blossom by Babilou Education was declared winner in Best Workplace Sustainability Program category, Fujairah Municipality took home the Article 13 Sustainability Prize.
The award jury received a total of 67 nominations for the different categories for the 2018 Happiness @ Work Award. Based on multiple parameters, an independent panel of jury evaluated organizations in five different categories and 16 organisations were shortlisted and announced on the International
Sustainable Mindz, the Dubai-headquartered expert centre for sustainability and corporate responsibility strategies in the Gulf and MENA region, instituted the Happiness @ Work award program in July 2017, aimed at promoting happiness and positivity in the region’s workplaces.
The Happiness @ Work Award is the only award of its kind in the region and the world. The awards recognize and honour forward thinking organisations from public, private and not for profit sectors that believe that happy Employees Create High Performing Organisations
“The Happiness @ Work Award aims to recognize organizations that are game changers, the forward-thinking ones that strive to do things differently and put their workforce at the heart of its operations. It aims to highlight leading examples of organisations actively looking at creating a workplace culture that nurtures, engages employees and reinforces their role in a sustainable future,” said Dima Maaytah and Vineetha Mathew, Founding Partners of Sustainable Mindz.
The jury members include Dr. Saamdu Chetri, Visiting Faculty at IIT Kharagpur, Department of Humanities and Social Science, Rekhi Centre for Science of Happiness, Dr. Yasmin Al Bulushi, Dean of Muscat College – Oman, Dr. Mansoor Anwar, Head of Happiness & Tolerance, du – UAE and Ms. Jane Fiona Cumming, Director and Co-Founder, Article 13 - UK
Dr. Saamdu Chetri said, “My involvement with Happiness @ Work Award is to bring awareness to the world to realise that there is only one medicine called Happiness to cure the great divides of this planet; each entry was judged on equally weighted criteria including uniqueness of the initiative, leadership commitment, planning and implementation, employee engagement, communication and accountability, performance management and impact, and continuity and replication potential.”
