Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 31 March 2019: Azizi Developments, one of the leading private developers in the UAE, was proud partner of the Dubai World Cup 2019, the world’s richest day of horseracing and a global stage where the best horses from around the world compete.
Azizi Developments sponsored the Group 1 Al Quoz Sprint, a key part of the Dubai World Cup and one of the richest of its kind in the world, with a prize money of USD 2 million — doubled by Azizi Developments from last year’s prize purse of USD 1 million.
A 1,200-metre (6 furlongs) grass dash that ran the length of a straight chute in front of the tracks, Al Quoz Sprint offered the closest action point for spectators. A nail-biting race, equivalent to the popular 100m dash of the Olympics, it featured some of the world’s best grass sprinters.
The Al Quoz Sprint was first run in 2007 as part of the then Dubai International Racing Carnival before becoming part of the Dubai World Cup in 2010 to coincide with the opening of the Meydan Racecourse. Thoroughbred horses from South Africa, France, Hong Kong, Australia, and the UAE have won it.
Last year, the competition featured horses from the UAE, USA, Ireland, Australia, and the UK. To date, the UAE has won four times — the most among other countries — followed by South Africa at three times, with their trainer Mike de Kock having the record for being the only trainer to secure multiple wins. Horses aged 3 – 11 have competed to date, with the youngest horse to win at the Al Quoz Sprint being four years old and the oldest was eight.
Farhad Azizi, CEO of Azizi Developments, said: “We were honoured to support the Dubai World Cup, undoubtedly one of the highpoints in the global equestrian calendar, welcoming participants from across the world. Through our support of the event, we underlined our commitment to promoting high-profile events in Dubai that bring the community together. It also emphasised our determination to support and celebrate equestrian sports that are integral to the UAE’s heritage. The Dubai World Cup delivers on the leadership’s vision to promote Dubai as an advanced and inclusive city, and we are delighted to have been a pillar partner of Meydan through sponsoring this world-class event.”
As a sponsor, Azizi Developments presented highly prestigious awards to the winners of most races associated with the Dubai World Cup. The sponsorship reiterated Azizi Developments’ focus to support the growth of the UAE and Dubai while contributing to global events that add to national pride.
Farhad added: “We extend our congratulations to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, and Ruler of Dubai on winning the 2019 Dubai World Cup. We are also very proud to congratulate Godolphin, William Buick and all the winning connections of Blue Point - winner of the 1200m Al Quoz Sprint. This race was an exciting display of exceptional talent. Sponsoring this world-class iconic sporting competition was a privilege and we will continue to extend our support to events that add to the pride of our city and nation.”
The support by Azizi Developments also highlighted its high regard of Meydan and the equestrian undertakings in Dubai.
“This sponsorship is perfectly aligned with our philosophy and pursuit of bringing communities together, supporting the UAE’s heritage, development, and vision, and placing Dubai on the international stage.” concluded Farhad.
Azizi Developments is developing its flagship, master-planned community, Azizi Riviera, in Meydan One. Upon completion, Azizi Riviera will have a total of 71 mid-rise buildings with over 16,000 residences, including studios, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments. At the heart of the development is a mega retail district offering high-street brands and a wide selection of leisure and entertainment attractions. Azizi Developments has also launched ‘Les Jardins,’ an aesthetically designed green park in Azizi Riviera.
