Barij Munitions signs a Memorandum of Understanding with Emirates Steel at IDEX2019

- The new partnership is set to develop, promote and enhance the UAE’s defense manufacturing capabilities
21 February 2019 - Abu Dhabi, UAE: Barij Munitions, a subsidiary of Emirates Defense Industries Company (EDIC), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Emirates Steel Company, the largest integrated steel plant in the UAE, to create a framework for mutual cooperation for the development and manufacturing of defense products.
The MoU was signed at the International Defense Exhibition and Conference (IDEX 2019), which is currently being held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC) from the 17th to the 21st of February.
Having identified the growing opportunities in the defense manufacturing sector, Barij Munitions will work with Emirates Steel to meet the increased demands of domestic and international markets. The MoU was signed between Arafat Saleh Al Yafei, General Manager of Barij Munitions, and Engineer Saeed Ghamran Al Rumaithi, CEO of Emirates Steel Company.
It also entails the exchange of expertise between the two organizations to better facilitate the development of state-of-the-art products and create opportunities through training programs aimed at developing local knowledge in different areas of production. Moreover, Barij Munitions and Emirates Steel plan to explore the possibility of joint projects and investments that enhance the productivity and capabilities of local manufacturers.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Arafat Saleh Al Yafei, General Manager of Barij Munitions, said: "Strengthening the local manufacturing sector is one of the key strategic objectives of Barij Munitions.
Promoting local companies not only helps in developing local expertise but also contributes to the national economy.
