Dubai, UAE 16 August 2018: The Dubai College of Tourism (DCT), part of Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism), has partnered with the Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group (DGJG) to award up to 20 full scholarships for its Certificate in Retail course, which commences on 9 September this year. These scholarships are being offered only to Emiratis and expatriate residents in the UAE.
As the GCSE and A Level results are being released from this week onwards, it is important to remind students that there are alternative pathways to success and a vocational education can be the key to unlocking their true potential. With this in mind, here are five key reasons why a scholarship at Dubai College of Tourism could be the perfect choice for students, who are looking to launch a career in retail.
An Alternative Pathway To Success
A vocational course like the Certificate in Retail is designed to bridge the gap between in-house training and a conventional university degree, allowing students to learn practical skills that have direct industry application for exciting and rewarding career opportunities. The course will help lay the foundations for a promising career path for these students, particularly if they eventually choose to take up a job with a tourist-facing role in Dubai’s growing retail sector.
Become Part of A Leading Retail Industry
The ‘City of Gold’ scholarship initiative gives students the opportunity to be a part of Dubai’s expanding retail landscape including the possibility of securing an internship with retailers in the DGJG network. The course will also help students get to know career prospects in the retail sector, as they go about enhancing their knowledge of a vibrant and successful industry that is one of the key pillars of Dubai’s economy.
Real Life Work Experience
The scholarship programme will mix classroom learning with real-world experience and includes internships in the industry whilst studying, offering hands-on training and access to industry expertise. This high level of engagement will provide students with important skills and practical applications and help empower them with the confidence and experience needed to succeed in their chosen careers.
Fully-Funded Grant
Each of the 20 recipients of the ‘City of Gold Scholarship’ will be provided with a fully-funded academic grant to cover the total tuition costs throughout the year. The ‘City of Gold’ scholarship initiative is the first in a series of full academic scholarships that will be awarded under the Dubai College of Tourism Scholarship Fund in collaboration with leading industry partners.
Outstanding Job Prospects
The Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group is a trade body for the gold and jewellery industry of Dubai with more than 600 members representing the entire spectrum of the gold trade, including bullion, jewellery manufacture, wholesale & retail. Successful candidates will be eligible to apply for exciting career opportunities within the Group’s network of retailers upon completion of the course, allowing students to enter the workforce with practical experience and valuable industry connections.
