HBMSU receives delegates from Umm Al Quwain to discuss smart education, innovation, entrepreneurship & artificial intelligence

UAE, May 19, 2018- Dr. Mansoor Al-Awar, Chancellor of Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU), received recently H.E. Humaid Rashid Al Shamsi, Secretary-General of the Executive Council of Umm Al Quwain, and a delegation from the Umm Al Quwain Government who visited the university to learn more about its plan to re-shape the future of smart learning in the UAE and the Arab world.
During the meeting, both parties tackled HBMSU’s academic, research, and professional programs designed to build the country’s future innovators, in addition to the university’s initiatives to promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and next-generation technologies such as artificial intelligence in a bid to enhance the local education system according to the requirements of the 21st century. The visit comes in line with the agreement signed between the two sides, which aims to train and qualify national human resources and government leaders in Umm Al Quwain, which was chosen to join the “Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla” program.
Dr. Al-Awar said that cooperation and communication between the public sector and the academic society is the key to nurturing the capabilities and determination of the country’s young leaders and building a knowledge-driven future. He reiterated HBMSU’s commitment to employ technology to promote smart learning and generate investments in human capital in line with the directive of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, who said, ‘The role of young people in building the future and achieving goals depends on their ability to adapt technology and advance science to serve the goals of their community and their country.’
Dr. Al-Awar concluded: “We look forward to exploring new horizons to cement our strategic partnerships in training and learning as well as in creativity and innovation. We will continue our efforts to develop and contribute to the “Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mu'alla” Program for Government Leaders, which is an important step towards enriching the knowledge of the human resources working in the Executive Council of Umm Al Quwain. The program also provides the necessary tools to enhance government services in accordance with the highest standards of excellence in line with vision of UAE to become one of the leading countries in the world by 2021”
At the end of the visit, the delegates from the Umm Al Quwain Government learned about the university’s Smart Campus, a unified and integrated virtual platform that provides advanced smart services to allow students to participate in virtual classrooms, access the academic record, and provide research and suggestions using the latest interactive tools. HBMSU officials also shed light on Cloud Campus, which reflects the university’s vision to provide world-class learning opportunities for everyone in line with the highest standards of quality. Via Cloud Campus, HBMSU is able to offer students with direct access to an interactive virtual library with vast resources and over 5,000 courses covering professional business skills, digital tools and applications, among others.
