Dubai, UAE, February 08, 2018: Ahead of the third stage of the Dubai Tour 2018, children from Dubai College and Nord Anglia Dubai were invited to meet UAE Team Emirates at the Dubai Tour fan village.
Riders including the reigning European Champion, Alexander Kristoff, UAE National Champion Yousif Mirza, former U23 World Champion Sven Erik Bystrom, Filippo Ganna, Simone Consonni and Matteo Bono signed autographs and spoke to the excited students, as part of the team’s commitment to promote the health benefits of cycling and encourage the next generation of UAE cyclists to get on two-wheels.
Commenting on meeting his heroes, Shuann Naqtani, a 17-year old who attends Dubai College said; “It was so cool to meet some of the best cyclists in the world - a real treat! I’m a huge fan of cycling and to see such great athletes here in the UAE is amazing for the sport. I think having a professional cycling team representing the country is really inspirational.”
The team’s participation at the Dubai Tour and the forthcoming Abu Dhabi Tour also gives the region’s community the opportunity to come together and support world-class athletes as they aim to become one of the top cycling teams on the tour.
