Sharjah, 13 Aug 2017: The Health Education Department of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah is holding a press conference at 10 AM, Wednesday August the 16th, at the Council’s headquarters in Sharjah. The conference is dedicated to announcing the 2017 edition of the “Health and Tourism” campaign, titled “Let's Walk”.
The annual campaign aims to promote a culture of walking and active lifestyle in the summer season, and highlight Sharjah's efforts in promoting a healthy lifestyle in all its tourism attractions. The campaign also aims to spread awareness around healthy behaviors that can be adopted by tourists during their tours.
The conference will be attended by Her Excellency Iman Rashid Saif, Director of the Health Education Department, as well as representatives from the campaign sponsors, including the Euro Arabian Hospital (platinum sponsor), and primary sponsors The Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, Bank of Sharjah, and Golden Balloon.
The conference will also be attended by managers and executives of the four health promoting societies at the Council, which are The Friends For Diabetes Society, the Breastfeeding Friends Society, the Friends of Arthritis Patients Society, and the Friends of Kidney Patients Society.
“Tourism and Health” is the first of its kind digital campaign linking tourism to healthy habits in the world. The campaign was highlighted in the Innovation Arabia Conference at Hamdan bin Mohammed Smart University, Dubai in 2015.
The campaign attracted high interaction on social media last year, with the special campaign hash-tag achieving over 3 million impressions inside the UAE and abroad.
