Doha Bank Hosts Its Annual ‘Beach Clean-up' Event to Celebrate the Earth Day in Collaboration with the Ministry of Municipality and Environment and the Al Wakra Municipality

Dubai, April 24, 2017: Continuing its efforts to spread the message of environmental protection and sustainable living, Doha Bank joined hands with Qatar’s Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) and the Al Wakra Municipality to host a ‘Beach Clean-up’ event at Al Wakra Beach, under the theme ‘Save The Beaches For The Future’ to show its commitment to the environment and in celebration of the Earth Day global event on 22nd April 2017.
Aimed at creating greater community awareness about the need to protect and preserve the natural environment and keep the marine habitat safe and trash-free, the Beach Clean-up event was led by Doha Bank’s Management and volunteer staff members who actively picked up litter and trash collected along the shoreline.
Commenting on the event, Dr. R. Seetharaman, CEO of Doha Bank, said: “Community participation is key to sustainable environmental management, and as a strong advocate for environmental causes, Doha Bank is keen to play a proactive role in creating greater public awareness about the need to keep our surroundings clean. ECO-friendly initiatives like this will benefit everyone, from local residents to international visitors who can enjoy the beauty of our country at its pristine best. I would like to thank the Ministry of Municipality and Environment and the Al Wakra Municipality for their support and contribution to the event’s success.”
Throughout the year, Doha Bank hosts a series of events aimed at promoting environmental action and responsibility. Foremost upon the list is the Al Dana Green Run, one of Qatar’s largest community events; the 12th edition of the annual run took place recently at Aspire Park in Doha, drawing participation from thousands of residents.
Doha Bank also holds Tree Planting activity to save the environment by planting more trees and promote healthy living. Furthermore, Doha Bank’s ECO-Schools Programme is open to all Schools in Qatar, registration is FREE and it encourage students to become environmental advocates at a young age.
The ECO-Schools Programme aims to promote environmental awareness in coordination with the schools. It provides a platform for projects related to Environmental Health, Energy Saving, Waste Management and Water Management which include the Beach Clean-up activity amongst other ECO-related activities and Green Banking initiatives of Doha Bank; to make a difference to the environment and the society.
