Program based on Sydney Business School curriculum aims to help top executives to become transformational leaders
Dubai, 4 March 2017: The prestigious new Executive MBA program of the University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD), which will provide senior managers with the tactical expertise to become transformational leaders, was officially launched recently at a business breakfast held in Dubai.
The degree, which is based on the top-ranking program of Sydney Business School, is designed to equip top executives across both public and private sectors in the region with the skills, tools, and expertise they need to innovatively address the strategic and operational challenges of an increasingly complex business environment in the MENA region.
Addressing a cohort of nearly 75 guests about the value of having an EMBA degree, Professor Alex Frino, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global Strategy) at UOW, Australia said that the EMBA focuses on enhancing the leadership potential of individuals. “Most leadership skills are gained through on-the-job-experiences. The problem with that is, sometimes due to a lack of understanding the fundamental principles of leadership, senior managers execute decisions which may not necessarily be the best way forward”, he said.
Professor Barry O’Mahony, Dean of the Faculty of Business at UOWD, said that the University’s new EMBA is distinctive because it has been developed around the business cycle moving through the start-up phase; such as starting a new company, opening a new branch office or developing a new brand; to the growth phase and beyond. “The course will teach the students how fundamental business elements such as financial management, entrepreneurial leadership, human resources, operations management, research and marketing fits in to each stage of developing a new product /service and how to lead an organisation through the important lifecycle stages”, he said.
UOWD’s Executive MBA program will teach individuals cutting edge leadership skills through the use of case studies, practical examples and interactions within their study group. The EMBA structure consists of six unique, comprehensive and progressive modules, which is less than other EMBA’s. These modules are intensive and will be delivered in block mode. This program also includes an international study tour to enrich the learning experience and gain deep insights in to international markets.
Earning an Executive MBA is a lifelong investment. Statistics have shown that graduates of the EMBA program could expect a significant salary increase– up to triple their current salary, quite rapidly after graduation. Career prospects for EMBA graduates are very favourable with an average of 88% of students being employed in leadership positions within a few months of obtaining their degree. Surveys have also shown that 83% of students who completed an EMBA said that they have achieved the desired outcomes they were aiming for.
The University welcomes applications from individuals who have a recognised Bachelor’s degree with at least five years’ experience in a senior management position. The first semester is due to start on 9 March 2017 and offers a special introductory fee. For more information contact the Admissions team at 04 278 1703 or email info@uowdubai.ac.ae.
