Dubai, UAE, December 17, 2016: International School of Arts and Sciences (ISAS), managed by leading academic solutions provider Academia Management Solutions International (AMSI), recently elected its Student Council committee for the academic year of 2016-2017. Election of the Student Council is a key activity of the school and provides students with the opportunity to hone and deploy communication, planning and organizational skills.
Teachers and other school staff also use the election period as a training ground to cultivate the spirit of competition, responsibility and team-work. Students are encouraged to hold community service initiatives and demonstrate their capability to execute events and projects. This year, election campaigns aligned themselves with the vision of United Arab Emirates to spread happiness, positivity and personal development in the student community.
To win the confidence of students and teachers, students employed various techniques to mirror real-world diplomacy and politics such as organizing speeches and debates that also included a review of the previous academic year’s Student Council body. A string of entertainment activities were also organized to equally celebrate the spirit of competition and camaraderie amongst the competing members.
Eventually, the charged election campaigns concluded with nine students elected to the Student Council to handle several responsibilities. Coming into full force with the start of the new academic year, the Student Council will be entrusted with organizing in-school activities, ensuring the highest level of decorum during high-profile guest visits and acting as the conduit between students and faculty members.
Harnessing competitive spirit and giving students a platform to express their views is part of the efforts by AMSI schools to complement academic learning with co-curricular skills.
