flydubai celebrates inaugural flight to Aleppo, expanding its network in Syria
  • Aleppo marks flydubai’s second destination in Syria, complementing the airline’s three daily flights to Damascus
  • The new route strengthens air connectivity between the UAE and Syria, offering passengers greater flexibility for business, leisure and family travel

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 21 July 2026: flydubai, the Dubai-based carrier, has celebrated the launch of its daily non-stop service to Aleppo International Airport (ALP), marking its second destination in Syria, alongside Damascus.

The inaugural flight departed from Terminal 3 at Dubai International (DXB) on 20 July and was greeted with a ceremonial water cannon salute and an official reception hosted by local authorities upon landing.

The new route represents a key milestone in flydubai's network expansion, strengthening connectivity between the UAE and Syria and providing greater flexibility for passengers travelling for business, leisure or to visit friends and relatives. In addition, it offers a convenient travel option for Syrian communities across the UAE and the wider GCC region, especially during the peak summer travel season, complementing the airline’s three daily flights to Damascus and significantly reducing travel times compared to indirect routes.

With its expansion to Aleppo, flydubai continues to strengthen its network in Syria, following the successful reintroduction of services to Damascus in June 2025. It also reinforces the airline’s commitment to enhancing connectivity in underserved markets and unlocking new opportunities for trade and tourism between the two countries.

Hamad Obaidalla, Chief Commercial Officer at flydubai, said: “The commencement of our daily flights to Aleppo, a city of immense historical and commercial significance, strengthens our presence in Syria and reinforces our commitment to connecting Dubai with key markets in the region. Since introducing our Damascus service last year, we have witnessed strong demand for travel between the UAE and Syria. This new route reflects our long-term confidence in the Syrian market and our commitment to providing passengers with more flexible travel options, while contributing to the region’s economic and tourism development.”

Aleppo is Syria’s second-largest city, renowned for its rich history and cultural significance as one of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited cities and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Once a key trading hub along the ancient Silk Road, the city attracts visitors from around the world with its iconic landmarks, including the Aleppo Citadel and the Al-Madina Souq, one of the world’s largest covered markets.

Following the retrofit of its cabin interiors, passengers travelling with flydubai can enjoy an elevated onboard experience available across the carrier’s modern and efficient fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft. This includes lie-flat seats in Business Class, ergonomically designed seats in Economy Class, complemented by a variety of delicious meals, light snacks and refreshing beverages served throughout the flight. Customers can also enjoy hours of immersive inflight entertainment, now available on the majority of the carrier’s growing fleet.

Aleppo marks the latest addition to flydubai’s expanding global network, following the recent launch of flights to Bangkok in Thailand and Benghazi in Libya, along with the planned launch of services to Pokhara in Nepal from 23 September 2026.
