Abu Dhabi, 6th November 2016: The External Relations & Collaborations Department at the Petroleum Institute (PI) hosted a senior delegation from Lafayette, Lousiana, USA including: Ms. Claire Thomas, Industry Relations Director, LAGCOE, Ms. Angela Cring, Executive Director, LAGCOE, Mrs. Sheba Person Whitley, Senior International Trade Manager, Louisiana Economic Development, Mr. Larry Lemarie, representing Lafayette Economic Development Authority (and retired Halliburton)
And Ms. Rose Honegger, Director, Office of International Affairs, Univ. of Louisiana at Lafayette. The delegation met with the PI's External Relations and Collaborations team, including Dr. Ebrahim Al Hajri, Director of External Relations and Collaborations and discussed areas of mutual interest including student exchange and collaborative research. The delegation also toured the PI campus including its research center; the PIRC.
About The Petroleum Institute
The Petroleum Institute University and Research Center (PI) was established in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates in 2001 with a goal of becoming a world-class institution in both engineering education and energy industry research. PI currently has nearly 2000 undergraduate and graduate students, over 200 faculties, and has quickly become a leading teaching and research institution in the Middle East region. The PI's sponsors and affiliates include the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and four major international oil companies that include BP, Japan Oil Development Company, Shell and Total. The campus has modern instructional laboratories and classroom facilities, and hosts a major research center, the PI Research Center (PIRC) which recently opened in September 2016.
