Dubai, UAE – September 28, 2016: A panel of top nutritional and fitness experts sought to address the region’s deadliest diseases and health issues during Tefal’s recent anniversary event.
The discussion focused on the prevalence and causes of diabetes, heart disease, and obesity in the region and the panelists emphasized the roles that nutrition and fitness play in decreasing the risk for these diseases and conditions.
The rhetoric of the panel was driven by a recent survey, commissioned by Tefal in the UAE and KSA for the event. Amongst the 400 respondents from both countries, around 20% don’t work out or play any sports during the week. In addition, even though around 33% of all respondents follow a healthy diet, approximately 34% don’t follow any specific diet.
“With the alarming increase in cases of diabetes, heart disease and obesity in the region, the results from our survey further highlight that people in the UAE and KSA need to focus on leading a healthier lifestyle by incorporating nutrition and fitness into their daily lives. Regular exercise and a considerate diet are two simple ways people can reduce the risk of developing such diseases,” said Shonila Misra, Managing Director, Groupe SEB Middle East. “With its 60 years of constant innovation, Tefal plays a key role in this by providing high-quality products that allow people to cook in a healthier and quicker way that suit their lifestyle needs,” she continued
The panel was moderated by international presenter, Shereen Mitwalli, and comprised of a number of experts, including Massa M. Bitar, MSc. RD., Registered Clinical Dietitian; Stephanie Pech, Holistic Nutrition and Metabolic Balance Coach; Carly Rothman, Fitness & Health Expert/Founder of Lean Living Girl; and Shonila Misra.
Following an interactive Q&A session with the panelists, the attendees had the chance to observe and engage with four demonstrators including Hala Barghout, who offered a healthier twist on comfort-food using Tefal Actifry Express, Marguerite Kiwan, who created a guiltless dessert using Tefal Expertise pots and pans, Fiona Archibold, who developed kids’ food designs, and Fortius Fitness Club, who provided a fitness routine specifically customized for working ladies and easy yoga poses that can be done at home.
The two Tefal products used during the event highlight the brand’s focus on innovation and enable consumers to cook in a healthier and quicker way, without jeopardizing on the flavor. The Tefal Expertise pots and pans range were designed with a focus on excellence in durability and taste, especially with the Thermo-Spot, which indicates when the ideal temperature has been reached. As for the Tefal Actifry Express, it allows people to cook crispy French fries and a great variety of other dishes – from starters to desserts – with little to no oil.
With 60 years of experience in creating ideas that change people’s lives, Tefal celebrated its anniversary by bringing together all these experts in the nutrition and fitness fields in order to further help people make healthier changes to their lifestyle and decrease their chances of diseases and health conditions.
