DuPont Named 2015 Thomson Reuters Top 100 Global Innovator

United Arab Emirates, November 17, 2015– Thomson Reuters has named DuPont a 2015 Top Global Innovator, marking the fifth consecutive year the company has been named to the prestigious list. The program honors corporations and institutions around the world that are at the heart of innovation – creating new technologies and bringing them to life through commercialization.

Among DuPont’s innovations are advanced enzymes and sustainable biomass supply chain for one of the world’s first cellulosic ethanol plants in Nevada, Iowa, DuPont™ Corian® Charging Surface providing wireless charging for phones and tablets, new thin and stretchable conductive materials for wearable electronics, DuPont™ Kevlar® advanced ballistic protection and consumer products, Tyvek® HomeWrap® and medical packaging, Nomex® thermal protection, Optimum® AcreMax® insect protection products, Sorona® renewably sourced fibers, Rynaxypyr® insect control, award-winning DuPont™ Solamet® photovoltaic metallization pastes that help boost the power output of solar panels and DuPont™ Danisco® HOWARU® Cardio premium probiotic, which has been shown to significantly improve total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels. In 2014, DuPont recorded about $9 billion in sales from new products and applications launched between 2011 and 2014. The same year, DuPont scientists and engineers published some 300 articles in scientific journals, and DuPont had more than 3000 technology agreements with companies and universities. 

The Thomson Reuters 2015 Top100 Global Innovators program, now in its fifth year, has served as a trustworthy investment resource and a testament to increased R&D funding, global patent filing and new market development, resulting in greater revenue and enhanced regional economic activity. According to Thomson Reuters, together the Top 100 Global Innovators generated more than $429 trillion in revenue and invested more than $20 trillion in R&D (local currency) in 2014. The 2015 Thomson Reuters Top 100 Global Innovators outperformed the MSCI World Index in revenue by 6.01 percentage points, employment by 4.09 percentage points, and market-cap-weighted R&D spending by 1.86 percentage points.

The Thomson Reuters 2015 Top 100 Global Innovator methodology is based on four principle criteria: overall patent volume, patent application-to-grant success rate, global reach of the portfolio, and patent influence as evidenced by citations.
