Middle East – September 28, 2015: To better compete in today’s digital economy, Huawei—a leading global ICT solutions provider— set a new milestone of its cloud map by connecting with thousands of business partners and industry analysts during its ‘Huawei Cloud Congress’ (HCC 2015) to examine the latest cloud-based ICT advancements across industries that are transforming the way that businesses operate.
Taking place in Shanghai under the theme of “Make It Simple, Make Business Agile”, HCC focused on the idea of Transforming with Cloud and Setting New Benchmark. The event attracted more than 10,000 attendees from over 80 countries, including industry experts, opinion leaders, and Huawei partners and media. Attendees discussed the latest industry trends, explored transformation opportunities and challenges in the cloud era and unveiled its new cloud computing products and solutions during HCC.
Huawei believes that amid the wave of worldwide digital transformation, IT systems are shifting from a support tool to a production system. As cloud computing technology is maturing, enterprises are infusing cloud capabilities into their IT systems. Similar to Internet-based enterprises, traditional industries are rushing to embrace cloud computing and deliver cloud services via industry clouds. Cloud computing offers a core competitive edge for companies to meet diverse customer needs. At this critical stage of cloud-driven digital transformation, Huawei is leveraging its position as a leading IT player to accelerate cloud technologies and enable transformation in different industries.
Kevin Zhang, President of Huawei's Corporate Marketing Dept, said, "Rapid developments in the digital world are redefining information technology and changing the way that organizations operate. After decades of experience in the IT market, Huawei has made many innovations and achievements within IT architecture, hardware, softzware, and services. Together with our partners, we hope to explore new benchmarks for cloud transformation. This reflects the main idea of this year's HCC: Transforming with Cloud, Setting New Benchmark."
At HCC, Huawei also shared its success stories for enabling the cloud transformation of traditional industries, including governments and the finance and media industries. Powered by tailor-made cloud solutions Huawei has developed alongside its partners, these industries have made significant efficiency gains and achieved rapid business innovations. Huawei entered the cloud computing market in 2010 and since then it has invested heavily in technological R&D and product innovation to promote industry development and transformation.
Software Platforms: FushionSphere6.5, FusionInsight and FusionStage
Huawei launched three software platforms at HCC 2015; FusionSphere6.0, FusionInsight, and FusionStage. FusionSphere is an enterprise-class cloud operating system, which helps customers deploy virtual servers, private clouds, public clouds, hybrid clouds, desktop clouds, and NFVI, enabling key services on cloud and facilitating continuous production innovation. FusionSphere6.0 is an ideal tool for resource optimization and integration across data centers and resource pools. FusionInsight is able to converge data by breaking down data silos. FusionStage is a lightweight, easy-to-use PaaS cloud platform that is well suited for industry-specific application developers.
OceanStor DJ
At the congress Huawei also released its data service platform, OceanStor DJ. Through the unified management of storage resources, OceanStor DJ automatically provides data services on a business-driven basis to boost data centers' operating efficiency. OceanStor DJ defines services by customer-oriented dictions and intelligently provides configuration and matching of optimal storage resources, shortening the time needed for deploying an IT application to less than 300 seconds.
Cloud Disaster Recovery Solution
Huawei released the industry's first OpenStack-based cloud disaster recovery solution. This solution provides disaster recovery capabilities for cloud data centers that employ an open architecture. In addition, the solution helps telecom operators and large-sized enterprises provide disaster recovery services for tenants. The OpenStack-based cloud data centers have attracted an increasing number of enterprise customers and have been actively put into use. The construction of cloud data centers as well as open IT system architectures and ecosystems require disaster recovery capabilities to be provided for cloud data centers and disaster recovery to be provided as a service for tenants.
Open Cloud Fabric (OCF)
Huawei launched its next-generation data center network architecture, Open Cloud Fabric (OCF). Designed for Web Scale IT cloud data centers, the architecture decouples traditionally closed networks across three distinct planes that Huawei can then support through a related suite of speed-enhancing switches, controllers and applications. The open and de-coupled Software Defined Network (SDN) network enabled by OCF is the basis of how Huawei creates agile data center networks, which provide application-based services in a more adaptable and easily manageable way.
MOU Signing
During the congress, Huawei and Micron Technology announced the signing of a strategic flash technology memorandum of understanding. Both parties will utilize their expertise to create innovative flash technologies for data center environments. Huawei and Micron will collaboratively provide industry-leading flash storage solutions for high-density and Big Data storage systems while continuing to explore best practices in flash technologies.
