Abu Dhabi-UAE: 23 June, 2015 – ADNOC Distribution is distributing gas cylinders of 50 lbs capacity in the Northern Emirates to under-privileged families at a subsidised price of AED 30 per cylinder – on par with prices in the emirate of Abu Dhabi - during the holy month of Ramadan. The move is an outcome of ADNOC Distribution’s collaboration in the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation’s ‘Iftar Project’ initiative.
Making the announcement at the annual employee gathering organised by ADNOC Distribution during the holy month of Ramadan, Abdulla Salem Al Dhaheri, CEO of ADNOC Distribution, said: “The great values and teachings of Ramadan are key drivers for ADNOC Distribution to further leverage our corporate social responsibility initiatives. Such efforts reflect our commitment as a national company to follow the directives of our wise leadership in the UAE and ensure the well-being of the country’s citizens and residents.”
Al Dhaheri added: “During the holy month of Ramadan we are keen to collaborate with relevant social and charity organisations across the UAE to support community-centric efforts that positive impact our society.”
The annual employee gathering drew the participation of the company’s senior management and professionals across different departments and divisions. A plethora of team-building activities leveraged a healthy spirit of competition and created a festive ambience at the event. The event also reiterated the principles of corporate social responsibility endorsed by ADNOC Distribution in the course of its day-to-day operations. Employees pledged to commit themselves to support the various initiatives launched by the company during the holy month as a nationally responsible organisation to support the UAE community.
For his part, Khalid Hadi, Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Communications at ADNOC Distribution, said: “As is the case every year, during the holy month we aim to roll-out various initiatives in line with our social responsibility strategy. Our initiatives this year include supporting charity projects such as the ‘Iftar Project’ in collaboration with the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation that includes providing gas cylinders at subsidised prices for a number of needy families in the Northern emirates.”
Every year during the holy month of Ramadan ADNOC Distribution invites motorists to stop at its service stations during the Al Maghrib prayers. The company’s service station staff distributes free dates and water as a gesture of goodwill to ensure motorists slow down rather than speed up to get to their destinations for Iftar. The company’s initiative has been widely appreciated by the leadership and the community for its role in preventing accidents and damage to public property as a result of reckless driving.
