Last Update: Tuesday, May 12, 2015 : 17:49 (+4GMT)
Dubai, United Arab Emirates - 12 May 2015: The hospitality sector is on the rise, as an additional 20,000 new hotel rooms are scheduled to be added to the existing 80,000 dwelling spaces in Dubai and Abu Dhabi-based hotels. This statistic was uncovered in a 2014 Jones Lang LaSalle research report. The additional hotel rooms are set to be added by next year. The growing hospitality industry has created a competitive market for companies dealing in institutional laundry, commercial and central laundry.
The commercial laundry industry is closely tied to the fortunes of the hospitality sector. A survey by MECTW revealed commercial laundry businesses in contract with a hotel, service 1500 pieces of linen on a weekday. And, the weekend laundry output is over 2000 pieces of linen on an average.
Peak tourist or exhibition season in the UAE is a busy time for hotels as well as commercial laundry businesses. The Expo 2020 will boost the hospitality sector as Dubai alone is expected to welcome 25 million visitors in the year of the event, 70 per cent visitors being from foreign countries. Anticipating the growing demand, Dubai is expected to reach 160,000 hotel rooms by 2020.
The region will witness new commercial laundry businesses being set up. Due to the competitive market, the end users will experience benefits in terms of enhanced efficiency and reduced costs. Utilization of innovative and ground-breaking technology will increase tremendously.
“The commercial laundry business has tremendous potential to grow due to strong demand from expanding hotel chains and new units rapidly coming up,” commented Jayaraman Nair, Chairman, VIS “Through MECTW, industry players gain an opportunity to share their insights on the latest innovations and commercial laundry solutions that will help the hospitality and healthcare experts understand the importance of our industry and its impact on the grand scheme of operations.”
“Linen care trends in hotels and commercial laundry business are beginning to change. A new generation of sustainable approaches are being developed in commercial laundry businesses and hotels. We always look at improving our standards across the services we offer and are looking forward to exchanging ideas and establishing relationships with other key players from the industry at the Middle East Cleaning Technology Week,” commented Juan De Dios Zornoza Lopez, Prime Laundry.
MECTW, which takes place from 2nd to 4th November, 2015 at, Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre offers a platform to promote scientific cleaning practices, latest products, technologies and services to potential buyers in the MENA region. For the first time, MECTW will make way for two new platforms – laundry and car wash – along with a special outdoor section dedicated to street cleaning solutions and equipment.
Middle East Cleaning Technology Week will also play host to the Excellence Awards that identifies the ‘difference makers’ in the hospitality and laundry industry. The Excellence Awards incorporates three categories; Best Room Attendant, Exceptional Public Area Attendant and Best Supervisor-Room. Winners walk away with a cash prize and a certificate.
MECTW is the perfect opportunity for brands to promote themselves in this competitive and growing region. It is the perfect meeting point for industry players, big and small, to exchange ideas towards providing better services.
