Doha Bank wins ‘Environmental Award' at Arab Organization for Social Responsibility Awards 2015

Qatar’s leading private bank recognized for its outstanding achievement in environmental stewardship
Dubai, May 11, 2015: After bagging a record number of awards and recognitions in 2014, including two prestigious awards for excellence in environmental and social responsibility, Doha Bank added yet another triumph to its growing list of accolades when it won the “Environmental Award” bestowed by the Arab Organization for Social Responsibility.
This is the second successive year that Doha Bank has been honored with the Environmental Award, which recognizes outstanding achievement in environmental stewardship.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Pierre Moukarzel, President of the Arab Organization for Social Responsibility,Dr. Mohammed Essa Al Adwan; Ambassador of the Arabian Cooperation Affairs at the Arab Organization for Social Responsibility, representatives of the diplomatic bodies in the state, a number of government senior officials, participants from Arab countries, delegates from government and private organizations, and a large number of media representatives.
Mr. Khalifa Abdulla Al-Kabi, Head of Recovery of Doha Bank, received the award at a glittering ceremony held at Murooj Rotana Hotel in Dubai that was attended by leading figures from the Middle East banking industry.

Sheikh Fahad Bin Mohammad Bin Jabor Al Thani, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Doha Bank. “Improving our own environmental performance – through acting in an ecologically responsible manner that helps reduce resource waste and save energy – is something we place great emphasis on, and serves as the foundation upon which our community outreach programs – aimed at promoting public awareness and participation in sustainability initiatives – are built.”
Doha Bank is one of the very few institutions in the region that have an active “green” policy in all areas, and the Bank’s corporate headquarters in West Bay are LEED certified and designed to save energy while maximizing ambient comfort. The Bank also maintains a well-defined
Environmental Policy, that encourages staff at all levels to “Reduce, Reuse & Recycle” to minimize resource utilization.

A pioneer in the area of “green banking”, Doha Bank has been at the forefront of the Middle East banking sector’s transition to paperless banking and has introduced environment-friendly and bio-degradable credit cards.
As part of its efforts to encourage environmental awareness at the grassroots of society, Doha Bank runs the annual Eco-Schools Program which seeks to integrate sustainability into the operational framework of schools and encourage schools to become eco-friendly institutions by taking practical steps towards a greener path and by reducing their carbon footprint.
