Step Conference Shifts up a gear with BMW i8

BMW Group and AGMC to give first ever live demo of exclusive new safety technology linked to the Dubai Police at STEP Conference 

STEP Conference will live up to its name as the region’s most disruptive tech, design and gaming event as it announces one of the world’s biggest brands will showcase new technology.

AGMC, the official BMW Group importer in Dubai, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates will showcase the world’s most progressive sports car, the BMW i8, and demonstrate live on stage a range of ConnectedDrive features from the brand’s suite of in-car technologies. 

With just under a week until this highly anticipated event, STEP Conference will be providing the first ever public opportunity to see a live demo of BMW ConnectedDrive Emergency Call, a key safety feature that gives AGMC customers 24-hour access to the Dubai Police Call Centre. 

The BMW Emergency Call facility gets auto-activated in the event of an accident whereby crash sensors via the passenger restrain system automatically alert the Dubai Police. The sensor, which can also be activated by pushing the SOS button, tells police the vehicle’s position and data, such as airbags deployed and passenger occupancy. This not only ensures speedy action but also that the rescue services know the type of accident and are prepared when they arrive on the scene.

The live demonstration from the brand’s top experts in this supercar will be a showstopper for tech and motoring fans. “BMW ConnectedDrive has been setting the pace in the field of automotive connectivity for many years now, and is renowned for forward-looking in-car concepts and technologies that give the driver and passengers information and services to help make their driving experience safer and more comfortable,” said Michael Keller, Regional Marketing Manager for BMW Group Middle East. “We look forward to conducting a live demonstration of these technologies, especially those features that are exclusive to this market, and of course, to showcasing the BMW i8 plug-in hybrid sports car.
