Georges Esquivel on hand to reveal the all new ‘1975' collection
March 22, 2015 Dubai: A selection of bloggers and press from top tier lifestyle magazines were invited to Peruvian hotspot Coya on March 17th. The occasion? To celebrate TUMI's 40th anniversary alongside Creative Director Georges Esquivel and preview The 1975 Collection - an exclusive new commemorative collection that embodies the meticulous craftsmanship, technical innovation and functional superiority that TUMI is renowned for and which pays homage to its founding year.
The intimate celebration was held in the restaurant's exclusive members club, which provided the perfect backdrop for the event. The luxurious vintage décor flawlessly juxtaposed its rich Incan heritage, filled with modern metallic finishes.
Guests poured into the room, and were greeted by hostesses dressed in royal blue 1970's air hostess uniforms handing out TUMI's all new ‘1975' inspired leather passport covers, an information booklet and a boarding pass that doubled as a raffle coupon – simulating the boarding of an actual flight! Guests proceeded to the back of the den, where they entered the raffle draw and were given the chance to monogram their new passport covers by the Tumi technician on hand.
Dining on quinoa salad, seabass casuella and caramel ganache amongst other delicious canapés and cocktails, guests mingled and took pictures with the vintage style photobooth, happily hashtagging along the way. Mr.Esquivel was on hand to take the press through the history of the brand which was strewn across the walls - beautifully showcasing how the brand has evolved over the last 40 years. Guests were also treated to a personal tour of the new collection on display.
Designed in America for Global Citizens everywhere, the 1975 limited-edition collection is crafted from natural, full grain cowhide leather similar to the variety TUMI imported from South America in the early years and TUMI's signature ballistic nylon. Collection styles include an International Carry-On, Slim Brief, Rucksack Backpack and Square Duffel. Each style bears a special limited-edition embossed number.
To end the soiree, Georges Esquivel energized the crowd by announcing the TUMI raffle prize winners; much to the excitement of the guests. Winners walked away with a range of prizes from an Alpha Bravo Knox Backpack, Alpha 2 Laptop Brief, with the grand prize of the night being a 1975 collection rucksack and hotel stay at Bab Al Shams. No guest left empty handed though –all leaving with goody bags containing a limited edition ‘1975' luggage tag.
