UAE, March 17, 2015 - The Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) has announced that Brazil will take part in the upcoming 9th Art Dubai, the latest edition of the leading international art fair in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia, at the Madinat Jumeirah resort from March 18 to 21, 2015. To be held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Art Dubai’s curated program of galleries and art space called ‘Marker’ will focus on Latin America and its connections with the Arab World this year.
Curated by Luiza Teixeira de Freitas, Marker will put on display select and diverse paintings, drawings and installations from Brazilian and other Latin American artists during the four-day event. Publishing companies The State from Dubai and Tijuana from São Paulo will also bring the works produced by other publishers from their respective regions, while Brazilian group Associção Cultural Videobrasil will screen a selection of film and video works by both Arab and Latin American exhibiting artists.
Dr. Michel Alaby, Secretary General and CEO, ABCC, said: “The 9th edition of Art Dubai is an ideal opportunity to highlight the strong relations between Brazil and Arab countries not just in trade but in terms of cultural exchange and building bridges as well. To have a dedicated exhibition space for Brazilian and other Latin American artists demonstrates how Dubai and the rest of the Arab World value their relations with the Latin American region. Visitors will be able to trace the roots of their long-standing cooperation and strategic partnerships and how these have progressed over the centuries. We are confident that Brazil’s significant participation in this year’s global art fair will bring all aspects of the two regions’ ties to the next level.”
This year’s Art Dubai will feature a select yet diverse line-up of around 90 galleries from the UAE and around the world across three main programs, namely Contemporary, Modern, and Marker.
