Dubai, United Arab Emirates, March 11, 2015: The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has hired more than 1400 medical staff in 2014 bringing the total workforce strength to 11,135; said a top health official.
Maryam Subaih, Director of Human Resources at the DHA, said: “In 2014, we carried out a substantial recruitment drive and we will continue to do so this year.
The demand for healthcare staff is fuelled by the ever-growing health sector and completion of new projects. Qualified talent-pool is the lifeline of the health sector and at the DHA we pay particular emphasis to recruit, train and retain our staff.
“In the last two years, more than 3336 employees have received upgrades.”
Subaih said of the 1400 medical staff recruited, 328 were administration staff, 224 medical staff, 534 nurses, 222 paramedics and 26 were medical trainees.
Subaih added that in 2015, the 200 bed Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital will be operational and the expansion of the Trauma Centre will be complete.
She said that the recruitment is in line with the Dubai Health Strategy 2013-2025 and is based on a detailed work-force plan which takes into consideration various factors such as specialty of manpower needed, number of nurses per hospital bed etc.
The DHA provides several training opportunities for all its staff members to pursue their training and further education.
