Abu Dhabi-based quick-service gourmet concept introduces Urban bites Art Gallery
Dubai, UAE, March 08, 2015: The very best creative talent in the region’s dynamic arts scene is being celebrated by Urban bites this month. The Abu Dhabi quick-service, gourmet eating concept has introduced ‘Urban bites Art Gallery,’ which sees local painters and photographers displaying their work at the brand’s Airport Road branch from March 10.
“The aim behind Urban bites’ Art Gallery is to contribute positively towards Abu Dhabi’s community by encouraging artists to come forward and show their talents,” said Abdul Kader Saadi, Managing Director of GLEE Hospitality Solutions, management company and partner in Urban bites. “We understand that sometimes it can be very difficult for artists to receive the opportunity to show to an audience what they are creatively capable of, so we are delighted to be able to support these skilled individuals and provide an environment where their work can be appreciated by a discerning audience,” he added.
The first artist to participate in Urban bites Art Gallery is Vera Vernerova, a photographer who uses pictures to show how people from all walks of life experience love, compassion, joy and sorrow. Vera educated herself in all aspects of photography after a fashion photographer encouraged her to explore her talent. Living in the Middle East for nine years and working as cabin crew, she has been able to gain trips to off-the-beaten-path destinations and record the lives she has found there. Preferring to shoot in natural light, her work has seen her nominated for ‘Best Photo of the Day’ by National Geographic.
“When I take pictures, I feel like I live every moment twice,” said Vera, whose work can be found at www.veravernerova.com.
Vera will be showcasing her work for one week at Urban bites’ Airport Road branch, after which Yukti Agarwal and Mioara Cherki - two other local talents - will be displaying the fruits of their respective artistic labours. Urban bites’ Art Gallery commences March and is currently open-ended, with new artists being encouraged to come forward and use the forum to demonstrate their abilities.
Urban bites Art Gallery follows the company’s recent Metronome initiative, which is hosted every third Saturday of the month. The weekend activity sees Urban bites inviting musicians and singers to perform at their Al Khalidiya, branch, enabling them to gain valuable experience in front of an audience.
“Urban bites Art Gallery is another milestone event that gives the chance for fresh talent to receive exposure. Just as our support for Metronome provided a platform for musicians to showcase their skills, Art Gallery gives budding photographers and painters their opportunity to shine. We hope to establish Urban bites as a pillar for such initiatives, as we consider ourselves a part of the fabric of the community in Abu Dhabi with a responsibility to promote new talent. We are looking forward to hosting many more similar activities in the future,” added Saadi.
