UAE to Host 17th Arab Investors and Businessmen Conference in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi-UAE: 2 February, 2015 - The UAE is gearing up to host the 17th cycle of the Arab Investors and Businessmen Conference, a pan-Arab economic and investment gathering that seeks to strengthen cooperation among countries of the Arab world, the Ministry of Economy announced today.

Themed ‘Investment in Innovations and Entrepreneurship’, the event will run from 11 to 12 November under the joint collaboration of the UAE Ministry of Economy, General Secretariat of the Arab League, Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry, General Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of the Arab Countries, as well as the Arab Investment and Export Credit Guarantee Corporation.

Abdullah Al Saleh, Undersecretary for Foreign Trade and Industry, Ministry of Economy, said: “The UAE is keen to work collaboratively with the rest of the Arab world in boosting investment cooperation. The conference is an ideal opportunity to share knowledge, review experiences and discuss challenges facing investors and businessmen. In addition, it allows participants to forge new partnerships and develop synergies towards fulfilling the common goals and aspirations of the Arab world.”

Al Saleh added: “Arab countries are today revising their economic policies to step up human capital, national capabilities, and shape environments that encourage innovation and entrepreneurship. In this light, the event’s theme resonates with this renewed focus on innovation and entrepreneurship. These two elements have become prime drivers in achieving development, creating jobs and building prosperous communities.”

The 17th edition of the Arab Investors and Businessmen Conference is anticipated to convene more than 1,000 investors from Arab countries. Participants will also include heads and members of Arab chambers and federations, as well as heads of banks and financial institutions, agencies and institutions that encourage investment. Representatives from unions and economic and financial organizations, financial and investment funds, and development banks are also expected to attend the event.

The upcoming edition will aim to raise awareness on the general economic climate in the region with a special focus on investment policy trends. In addition to providing updates on investment, development, and reconstruction projects, the conference will highlight the investment map, new laws and legislation, and successful experiences of Arab investors in the region.
