Winning team takes home a brand new ML 400.

What Dubai experienced on 24th October 2014, was more than just an adventure trail. A day full of excitement, challenges and fun covered the roads of Dubai with The Mercedes-Benz Detour 2014. In its 3rd year, the thrilling treasure hunt saw 100 enthusiastic teams of 2-5 starting at Dubai Sports City trying to take home the grand prize: a brand new ML 400.

The premier motor sporting event was brought to Dubai by, Gargash Enterprises in collaboration with Detour Events Management and supported by Fitness First, Pirelli, Lufthansa, Anta, 7 days, Emirates Motor Sports Federation & Dubai Sports Council. Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts from all over the UAE participated in the 190 kilometers trail laid down by the detour course. Teams were tested for their physical, mental & navigation skills where safety and cooperation were of paramount importance to enable teams to achieve the aim, in their own or rented Mercedes-Benz. They were judged on their performance across 7 pit stops and awarded points for finishing tasks that were assigned at each pit-stop.

A series of different challenges were presented at every pit-stop ranging from mental & navigation skills to fitness boot camps, offering the participants a unique & exciting experience. The average speed and additional time given to complete pit-stop challenges ensured that proper and safe speed limits were maintained. With a mix of memory, quiz and image recognition, the en-route activities kept the participants engaged throughout the drive. 

One of the participants Hema Chhablani was quoted saying “It was the first time in Dubai I’ve experienced such a unique and adventurous event. Although our ‘team PH2’, didn't win, we are looking forward to the next one and will surely be participating next year”. Another participant of ‘team challenge’; Husam Haris said “it was an event where everyone learnt the value of time. I would say it was the best adventure fun filled day, which everyone should participate in as it was very well organized. Hats off to the organizers for pulling off such an amazing event.”

This year, a team named ‘DISadvantage’ of 3 energetic ladies (Team no. 2), achieving a remarkable score of 142 was thrilled to win the grand prize of the Mercedes-Benz ML 400.
