In an unprecedented move DMI Launches its Snapchat Account
Dubai: October 19, 2014 Coinciding with its distinguished participation in the Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX 2014), DMI launched its new account on the social application "Snapchat", under the slogan "We live with you the moment and keep in touch", becoming the first and only Arab governmental institution trendsetting this step.
Heba Al Samt, Director of Digital Media Department for TV and Radio in DMI, said: “it's a dauntless move that comes in the context of DMI’s pursuit to provide latest and advanced levels of new digital services in such a bold move on the grounds that the recently launched new social application “Snapchat” is still in its infancy, and there are no numbers or statistics that support the presence of government institutions on "Snapchat" making DMI that first and only Arab Government organization to take this step.
“Snapchat is a photo messaging application allows users to take photos, record videos, add text and drawings, and send them to a controlled list of recipients. These sent photographs and videos are known as "Snaps". Users set a time limit for how long recipients can view their Snaps and the range is from 1 to 10 seconds.
Heba added: ”One of the most unique things about Snapchat is the “self-destructing” feature for photos a few seconds after photos have been viewed, the photo is instantly deleted seconds after it’s been opened by the recipient.
