To Offer Complementary Health Check-ups, Group Workshops on Healthy Cooking and Food Preparation Methods
Abu Dhabi-UAE: 13 October 2014 – The dieticians’ team at Ambulatory Healthcare Services (AHS), a SEHA health system facility, is set to roll out a ‘Nutrition Week’ initiative on healthy eating habits in a bid to educate people on the importance of balanced diets and highlight their positive impact on the overall health and well-being of individuals.
The awareness campaign will run at select locations in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain from October 14 to 16, 2014.
Through a series of lectures and workshops, the drive will offer tips on healthy and unhealthy foods. Live demonstrations on cooking techniques for the preparation of nutritious foods will also be conducted. In addition to hosting complementary health check-ups for individuals, fliers and pamphlets on beneficial food habits will be distributed to the public.
As key highlights of the campaign, awareness sessions will be hosted between 9am and 2pm at the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City on October 14. This will be followed on October 16 with sessions at the Armed Forces Officers Club in Abu Dhabi, and the General Directorate of Residency & Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Al Ain.
Dr Omar Al Jaberi, Chief Medical Officer at AHS, said: “Nutrition Week articulates the commitment of AHS and the dieticians’ team to contribute to public health through promoting stronger community engagement and improving nutritional awareness via community oriented initiatives. In providing valuable information and tips on nutrition, we hope to educate people on how to make balanced eating choices in order to offset debilitating health conditions.”
Ambulatory Healthcare Services is committed to making the lives of people in the emirate of Abu Dhabi healthier. AHS uniquely combines local research findings and latest scientific evidence in the delivery of its holistic healthcare services.
