PizzaExpress UAE wins Global Competition

PizzaExpress UAE has cause for celebration today after their Head Chef scooped the ‘Best Pizzaiolo’ award at PizzaExpress’ annual global competition, during an exclusive awards ceremony held in London.

Over 500 PizzaExpress restaurants from around the world enter the competition each year – which is divided into three rounds. The first round focuses primarily on creative Pizzaiolo skills and includes submitting a short video showcasing culinary expertise. Having successfully navigated this, PizzaExpress UAE’s Chef Khan progressed to the next round, where he was joined by 15 of his peers. 

In a gruelling semi final round, two members of the judging panel visit the restaurant of each competitor to assess quality standards, product knowledge and presentation. Chef Khan was one of only four international Pizzaiolos to make it through to the final.

During the grand final held at the Queen Elizabeth in London, Chef Khan and his three fellow competitors would demonstrate their creativity under pressure, in front of the watchful eyes of a judging panel and special guest the CEO of PizzaExpress. After a tense round of judging, Chef Khan was eventually declared the winner.
