In addition to its domestic market potential, Saudi Arabia also offers a substantial international tourism market, with 88 million visitors per annum to the Kingdom expected by 2020 to perform Umrah and Hajj. Fragrance and personal care packs are common gifts for those travelling on holy pilgrimages.
With Arab history and culture steeped in fragrance, the Middle East is regarded as a key market for international fragrance brands; per capita spend on premium fragrances in Saudi Arabia and the UAE already overshadows European and US markets. According to Euromonitor International reports, market size for women’s fragrances in the Kingdom is estimated at US$121million and US$101million for men’s.*
Haircare continues to be big business in the Middle East, with Saudi Arabia alone expected to reach US$708million by 2017, according to the same report. Other primary categories offering considerable market opportunity include vitamins and dietary supplements, particularly with the growing issue of obesity, and the spa & wellness industry, which is currently growing at 11 percent per annum in the Kingdom.
Saudi Health & Beauty 2014 will also play a valuable role in facilitating networking and one-to-one meeting opportunities between private sector and government bodies through its Hosted Buyer Programme.
