Dubai, United Arab Emirates – June 30, 2014: McDonald’s UAE today announced the launch of its annual Ramadan Book Campaign, aimed to enhance education for orphans at Beit Al Khair Society. This is the sixth consecutive year that McDonald’s has hosted the campaign and all proceeds will go towards Beit Al Khair.
The campaign encourages McDonald’s customers to buy children’s books that were specially developed by McDonald’s UAE. There will be four different books in both English and Arabic across all 121 McDonald’s UAE stores. Priced at five Dirhams each, this year’s books are titled: ‘Family’, ‘Friends’, ‘Honesty’, and ‘Good Opinion’.
“We are excited to be launching the sixth annual Ramadan Book Campaign and to support Beit Al Khair. As an active member in the UAE society, McDonald’s remains committed to giving back to the community through its charity initiatives. With the help of our customers and colleagues, this initiative in particular has been a great success over the years and we look forward to the 2014 campaign,” said Mr Rafic Fakih, Managing Director and Partner of McDonald’s UAE.
“This initiative has played an important role in the enhancement of education for orphans in the UAE. Beit Al Khair Society is very grateful for McDonald’s contributions and we continue to value this longstanding partnership,” commented Mr Abdeen Taher Al Awadi, General Manager of Beit Al Khair Society.
Beit Al Khair is one of the leading charity organisations in the UAE and has been a partner of McDonald’s for 12 years. Since 1989, it has helped raise funds and awareness for disadvantaged UAE nationals, including widows, divorcees, low-income families, disabled individuals and orphans.
