Wacom’s Cintiq Companion and the Intuos Pen & Touch S, have both been awarded two of the highest accolades in the design industry this year - an iF Design Award and a prestigious Red Dot award. Both awarded in the category of ‘Product Design’, the innovative designs of the Cintiq Companion and Intuos Pen & Touch S impressed both juries, as they considered criteria such as design, quality, finish, choice of materials and degree of innovation. Beating thousands of entries, these coveted seals of approval are symbols of Wacom’s dedication to listening to feedback from their creative customers.
Hartmut Woerrlein, Director Global Product Management at Wacom, commented: “We are extremely proud that two of our products have won such well known design awards. Wacom continues to manufacture products for a more creative world, that combine technological innovation with outstanding design and these accolades confirm that we are creating the right tools for creative people.”
Wacom was presented with the iF Awards earlier this year in Munich and both the Cintiq Companion and Intuos Pen & Touch S will also be included in the iF Yearbook published this month. The creative tablets are currently being showcased at Exhibition Unit 1 at the new and permanent iF flagship exhibition in the very heart of Hamburg’s HafenCity. They can also be viewed in an online showcase here - http://www.ifdesign.de/exhibitions_index_e.
The 7th July is awards night for Red Dot, in Essen, Germany, where Wacom will be presented with its award. The Red Dot Design Museum in Essen will also be opened for four weeks for a public showcase of around 2,000 exhibits, including the Wacom tablets. This is the largest exhibition of contemporary designs worldwide.
Cintiq Companion
Designer of the Cintiq Companion, Volker Huebner (owner of dingfest design and also responsibly involved in the Intuos Pen&Touch S design) said that his dream for this professional, creative tablet was: “a marriage between the high quality Cintiq Display with a powerful computer, to be used primarily in a mobile environment.” Created specifically for creative professionals, Wacom therefore produced a stunning product that enabled high performance hardware and software in a variety of environments for creative freedom whenever, wherever. Whether in the studio, customer offices, collaborative meetings, coffee shops, planes or trains, the outstanding design of the Cintiq Companion offers everything necessary for productive art and design work whether stationary or on the go.
Providing an all-purpose, mobile workstation, it is the first Cintiq going mobile with Windows OS and a multi-touch 13” Full-HD pen display. It offers everything necessary for productive creative work and has carefully placed customisable ExpressKeys, Rocker Ring and Radial Menu so that work can be completed faster than ever. An adjustable stand provides comfort in multiple working positions.
Intuos Pen & Touch S
The slim and ergonomic Intuos Pen & Touch S was designed as a natural, easy and fun way for beginners and hobbyists to express their creativity. Taking drawing with a pen and paper to another level, the Intuos enables users to get creative on the computer, whether simply sketching and doodling, painting a picture, editing photographs or designing greeting cards. A metallic finish creates an eye-catching tablet and a sleek new pen, with tapered shape, fits the hand comfortably for prolonged use. Multi-Touch also allows users to navigate, zoom and rotate their work at the flick of a finger. Similar to other Wacom pen tablets, the Intuos also features four ExpressKeys now with application specific settings for popular creative software.
