Joins the UAE and the rest of the world in highlighting the threat of climate change
Dubai, UAE (March 31, 2014) – For an hour on Saturday, Mach 29, 2014, the lights at Golden Sands Hotel Apartments, went off to support Earth Hour, a global campaign to highlight the threat of climate change.
Hotel staff and guests joined millions of people across the globe who observed Earth Hour from 8:30pm to 9:30pm. A global initiative that began in Sydney, Australia in 2007, Earth Hour encourages communities, people, households and businesses to switch lights off for one hour as a symbol of commitment to the planet.
The hotel management informed the hotel guests about the event by displaying posters in the lobby and in the room encouraging them to be part of the campaign by switching off lights for one hour for a healthy planet. Staff also participated by unplugging non-essential appliances and machines, including computers.
“It was interesting to see the positive response from the hotel guests who voluntarily switched off their room lights to observe Earth Hour. The universal message of reducing energy consumption to save our planet was well received by people around the globe for years now and we are proud to support this campaign,” said Mr. Mohammed Khoori, General Manager of Golden Sands Hotel Apartments, part of A.A. Al Moosa Enterprises and pioneered the concept of hotel apartments in the region.
