Abu Dhabi-UAE: 25 February, 2014 – The highly-reviewed stage spectacle ‘Slava’s Snowshow’, which is set to leave audiences snow-bound even in these desert environs, will premiere in Abu Dhabi in April.
Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) is preparing to host the live event, created and staged by Russian pantomime artist and clown Slava Polunin, from 17-19 April. The stage show is organised by ADNEC LIVE EVENTS in collaboration with the retail giant, MAX.
Slava’s Snowshow is a fusion of traditional and contemporary theatrical clowning that weaves a beautifully crafted, vibrant visual fantasy. Among the many unique and striking experiences Slava’s Snowshow will offer audiences is the creation of a winter snowstorm right inside the hall. The show has entertained audiences in more than 30 countries and 120 cities, including New York, London, Los Angeles, Paris, Rome, Hong Kong, Sydney, Rio de Janeiro and Moscow. The London Times described the show as a theatre classic of the 20th century and dubbed Slava Polunin as ‘the best clown in the world’.
Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri, Chief Commercial Officer of ADNEC, said: “ADNEC is proud to bring the internationally admired theatrical performance Slava’s Snowshow to Abu Dhabi’s discerning audience. The live show, which won the Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience, recreates a joyous dream journey that is certain to bedazzle spectators with special stage effects. Our venue helps fulfill the wishes of many culture enthusiasts in the UAE who are keen to enjoy such world-class offerings with friends and family.
“ADNEC gives special importance to staging live events of superior artistic value. Last year, we staged ‘Moscow Grand Circus’ & ‘Cinderella on Ice’ which were greatly encouraged by the overwhelming response to the show. Just as ADNEC has served as the point of convergence for international business, science, culture and technology, we also seek to attract fine artistic performances from across the world to Abu Dhabi.”
Haroon Ul Rasheed, Marketing Head & DGM of MAX, said, said: “Given Abu Dhabi’s rapid evolution into a 21st century destination city, there is today a perceived need to bring international arts and cultural shows of merit to the city for the appreciation and entertainment of the people of Abu Dhabi. MAX is proud to associate with the master artist Slava Polunin and his marvellous display of clowning magic to the capital city. Abu Dhabi has emerged as an important market for Max and we have now seven stores in the Abu Dhabi region to serve its customers better."
The show will be staged from 3:00pm and 7:30pm on April 17-18, with two shows at 11:00am and 3:00pm on April 19. Tickets are available in the VIP, Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze categories that are priced at AED490, AED420, AED350, AED270 and AED170 respectively.
